Grandmother Destroyed My Son’s Baking Dream Until I Finally Kicked Her Out

I thought my mother would eventually accept my son’s love for baking, but I underestimated how far she would go to change him.

I’m Jacob, a widowed father raising my two children, Cody and Casey, and baking had become something special that connected Cody to his late mother.

At 12 years old, Cody could create incredible cookies and desserts, and seeing his confidence grow made me proud every day.

One evening, after he finished a new cookie recipe, he excitedly showed me his creation and told me a neighbor wanted to buy two dozen.

Before I could celebrate with him, my mother Elizabeth walked into the kitchen and destroyed the moment.

“What kind of boy spends all his time in the kitchen?” she said.

She told Cody that baking was not something boys should do and that I was raising him to be weak.

I immediately defended my son and reminded her that passion, creativity, and hard work had nothing to do with gender.

Cody smiled again, but I could see her words had already hurt him.

The next morning, I warned him not to let anyone make him feel ashamed of what he loved.

But when I returned from work that evening, I found my son crying in his room.

His baking supplies were gone.

His mixer, pans, decorating tools, and everything he had saved for over two years had disappeared.

When I confronted my mother, she calmly admitted she threw everything away because she believed she was “teaching him a lesson.”

I stood there listening as she defended destroying my child’s dream, and I realized something painful: the person trying to break my son’s confidence was not a stranger. It was his own grandmother.
