My MIL Told Me to Turn Back Mid-Hike for a Ridiculous Reason

It was supposed to be a peaceful family hike. My mother-in-law Lori invited us to a trail she loved. “Nature’s the great equalizer,” she said. What she didn’t mention was that she was also introducing her new boyfriend Peter to the family.

I showed up in my usual hiking gear — black leggings and a tank top. Comfortable and breathable. Peter lingered too close, made comments about my “athletic posture,” and tried to help me over rocks when I didn’t need it. I kept my distance.

About halfway up, Lori suddenly stopped and turned on me. “You’re not going any further, Astrid,” she snapped. “You knew Peter was coming, and you chose that outfit? You’ve been flaunting yourself all morning.”
I was stunned. Ben said nothing. He just suggested we split up. Penny looked confused as I turned around alone.
